| Details: Design Engineer Job TS16949 registered manufacturing company is actively searching for a Design Engineer to work in their Southwest Virginia operation. This is a contract to hire position, and it's the full intent for this position to transition to a permanent role after 6 monthsResponsibilitiesFunction as a designer in the development of components, molds, fixtures, tools, test equipment and production equipment for the Heavy Truck and Construction Industries utilizing Unigraphics software for the design functions describedPerform preliminary and conceptual 3-D design work to support the development of Heavy Truck and Construction componentsBe the key point of contact for design guidance, project documentation, adherence to established drawing and performance standards and coordinate as appropriate with suppliers, purchasing, manufacturing, and other engineering personnel to develop the information required to complete assigned engineering projectsImplementation of design methods and philosophies to provide design solutions which optimize component cost, weight and durability while adhering to OEM specificationsCommunicate with engineering & design team as well as suppliers regarding new designs and changes to existing products and toolingRequirements5+ years of Unigraphics design experience (preferably in the automotive and/or heavy truck industry). Must be highly proficient in the use of Unigraphics NX-6Experience in Class A surfacing requiredMust possess good project management skills including keeping track of project budgets, schedules, bill of materials, design changes, procurement, etc.)Minimum of a 2 Year Associate�s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field (B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred) Should have a good understanding of the closed mold process such as RIM or Injection molding and tooling & fixture designTravel will be required.
